Nominate Barbara Boxer for the 2005 Jefferson Awards
http://www.aips.org/nominate/index.html

Click on the National Nomination Form and nominate Barbara Boxer for the

• U.S. Senator John Heinz Award for Greatest Public Service by an Elected or Appointed Official

I wish they had more than one award per year to give away because it wasn't just Barbara Boxer who contested the 2004 Ohio election. I really think Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, John Conyers, etc. all deserve one.

I opt for Barbara Boxer by the mere fact that she stood ALONE amongst her colleagues and, to me, that should raise the bar for all the senators to act for fair elections.

1. If it weren't for John Conyers, though,
none of it would have happened. I wish they could both get it, but I think if it can only be one, he should get it. He initiated the investigation, held the forums, conducted the research, etc.

2. When I tried to nominate John Conyers,
it wouldn't take my submission without a work and home number for him. Since I didn't have those, I couldnt submit it. Above the entry, it says if the person is well known, all you need is the name. I guess that's not so.

5. Someone had the idea to ask the Jefferson folks for a special group award
to honor all of the congress people who objected. I like the idea.

I had a hard time with the form also and ended up sending it through their contact form.

People are saying that the phone numbers have to be entered without hyphen, parentheses, or spaces. Weird. Seems there's a bit of a gaffe on the programming of that page.

I only have info for Boxer:
112 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
(202) 224-3553

If nothing works, just use the contact page and maybe let them know their nomination page is buggy.

Peace!

3. You missed Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, and Indiana with this spam.
Don't you think posting this nearly 50 times all over DU is a bit 'over the edge'? :eyes:

4. Thought I already apologized for this but apparantly not - so I'm sorry.
