Say it ain't so, Mooch!
"Even so, all is not lost. Local celebrities such as Steve Mariucci, the coach of the Detroit Lions, were on hand recently to introduce Bush at a stop in upstate Michigan. That's not bad in Michigan as long as the Lions win."

I used to really like Mooch. I hope Izzo's not a Republican too. That would kill me.

1. I love Mooch, but that's disappointing.
However, while disappointing, it's hardly surprising to find a rich, white guy who's involved in sports that votes Republican.

"Lighter moments in Bush's speech came when he was first introduced by Detroit Lions head coach and Iron Mountain native Steve Mariucci.

"President Bush, welcome to God's country," Mariucci said.

The president joked that Mariucci promised he'd bring the team to the White House if Bush were re-elected."

Maybe Bush could come to training camp too and be the tackling dummy.

Right. So when's that going to start happening, anyhow?
John
I'm 47. The last time the Lions won, I was in diapers. By the next time they win, I suspect I'll be in diapers again.

7. At least Mooch is not an anti-gay Republican
He handled the homophobic comments made by Garrison Hearst a couple years back when he was with the 49ers reasonably well.

I don't think Ditka would have responded that well. Then again, I can't imagine Ditka in San Francisco either.
