1. Why?
I guess in my opinion if their is anything we as American citizens should keep sacred it is the flag.

Someone that destroys it claiming their first amendments rights is a hypocrite. The flag is a symbol of them rights. Just my $.02

But I do think Congress does has much more important things to be dealing with. Health care, environment, deficits, ect. I hope it does not even come up in the senate.

2. why?

The flag belongs to every American. To some, it represents the rights given to every American. To some, it represents the government of the United States. To others, it means something else entirely. Every American does (or should) have the right to oppose and deny that government, those rights, or what they believe the flag is or represents.

Simply stated: it's not up to me or you to decide for someone else what the flag represents, and it's not up to me or you to decide for someone else what they can do with the flag. At least, it shouldn't be.

I would also recommend reading this article.

3. Limiting freedom and liberty is what the flag burning issue is about.
Regardless of how people feel. Some people dont like porn, thats fine, you have the right not to buy it. Some people burn the flag because here in the United States we are by definition, free. Free to think, free to speak, free to burn as many flags as we can afford. Personally, I wouldnt burn a flag, its not my style. But for those who want to, there are plenty of people who died for the right to do so. Banning flag burning is like spitting on the graves of every single person who died fighting for our freedoms.

4. I see....and stand corrected.
You both make valid points I didn't ever consider.

In a way I guess if they talk away this part of out freedom, what will they take next.
