House Republicans hold round the clock vigil outside Dean Johnson's office

Since they apparently have nothing better to do, House Republicans are camping out round the clock in front of Dean Johnson's office to get a "compromise".

"House Republicans who don't get to be part of budget negotiations have started a round-the-clock vigil outside the office of Democratic Senate Majority Leader Dean Johnson.

Rep. Kurt Zellers, R-Maple Grove, said the GOP lawmakers want to show they're ready to help finish a budget any time of day or night.

Many legislators have had little to do since the special session started May 24. Negotiations among Gov. Tim Pawlenty, House Speaker Steve Sviggum and Johnson have yielded no overarching budget agreement that would allow the Legislature to finish its business.

The differences are deep. Senate Democrats have railed against health care cuts while Republicans abhor a DFL proposal to raise income taxes on the highest earners. Both sides support more money for schools, but they differ on how to raise that money.

Republicans want to help their 1% income constituants by making the 99% of whom don't come to their fund raising dinners tow the line for the education and future of the state.

Instead of going to the schools, or to providing health care for the most needy of MNans, YOUR TAX DOLLARS are being spent so this group of yahoos can camp out in Dean Johnson's lobby-- just because Tim "one-note" Pawlenty won't negotiate.

What a great way to spend our budget....paying these morans for an eight-hour day at the Capital, PLUS their per-diem expenses (for outstate members), while the important work of the state goes unfinished, and 15,000+ state workers-- the ones who renew your licenses, handle your MNCare or Food Stamps and make sure the roads get fixed, are idled...

3. Could we organize a "counter vigil"?

Camp out and watch the Republican watchers "do nothing"! Take video, hand out flyers and leaflets doucmenting the Republican support the RICH 1%. I would {I}"Stand a Watch". It would be SURE to attract some Media attention!
