Does anyone know when the Farmer's Market will be up and running?
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 09:43 AM by myrna minx
I wistfully went to the grounds of the Minneapolis Farmer's Market last weekend in hopes of having breakfast corn on the cob and a hot cup of coffee. I hoped to meander the isles of fresh produce and glorious annuals and perennials. Alas, it wasn't open. :-( My spring fever is ready to burst forth. I want my breakfast corn!!! :bounce:

on edit: I love this forum!

1. Ahem....
"Welcome to the Minneapolis Farmers' Market web site. We are Minnesota's largest open-air, covered market. We will open for the 2004 season on April 24th and will be open 7 days a week, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. until December 24th.The Nicollet Mall will open April 29th. Located in two locations in the Twin Cities, the Minneapolis Farmers' Market is open rain or shine, is wheelchair accessible, and is a WIC participant. We hope you enjoy your visit at our web site and we hope to see you at the market soon!"

3. You should try the St. Paul Farmer's Market
Bigger and Better:

"Our promise to you is that each and every item at the St. Paul Farmers' Market has been locally produced. All but a few of our products originate within 50 miles of St. Paul, Minnesota, ensuring that you are being offered truly local items. St. Paul Growers' Association bylaws dictate that no middlemen are allowed."

4. That's the thing I never liked....
when I live in Mpls. - the Thursday Farmers Market was a little short on the "Farmer" aspect of things.

I can guarantee, they don't raise Mangoes and Bananas in Minnesota... ;-)

(Oh, and if you're eating corn on the cob in April, that prolly isn't local, either....)

5. Oh, you gotta go on the weekend
The Thursday thingy on Nicollet Mall is more like a teaser for the yuppies. It's designed to get you to show up on Saturday or Sunday.

I love the Mpls farmers market. Thankfully I live about a mile away from it so we do a lot of our produce shopping there during the summer.
