The Star Tribune published my letter on John G. Roberts
http://www.startribune.com/stories/563/5519513.html

Friday edition:

Bad for the environment

President Bush's choice for the Supreme Court, Judge John G. Roberts, wrote a dissenting opinion that the Endangered Species Act is unconstitutional. In other words, he believes that Congress doesn't necessarily have the power to pass environmental laws.

To those who vote Republican and consider themselves environmentalists: nice going.

1. Good job getting the info out. You should do a class on how to write
a LTTE.

3. You could do one of these a week - different theme, same ending.
Short, sweet, always end it with "To those...nice going". Could catch on!

4. Very good, now Roberts needs to be exposed on all of the....
...other business friendly propositions he has advocated for throughout his career. This guy needs a very bright light cast on him for all of the country to see just where he stands. His confirmation testimony will be less than candid, so the senate will need lots and lots of examples which the republicans have tried to bury. Information on this guy is hard to find and does he really have enough experience as a judge to be promoted to Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States?

8. The New York Times mentioned it in their editorial after
Bush's announcement that John G. Roberts was the nominee:

If extremists take control of the Supreme Court, we will end up with an America in which the federal government is powerless to protect against air pollution, unsafe working conditions and child labor. There are reasons to be concerned about Judge Roberts on this score. He dissented in an Endangered Species Act case in a way that suggested he might hold an array of environmental laws, and other important federal protections, to be unconstitutional.

11. Did you see this shit?
Winners pick justices

A July 21 letter writer voiced concern about a "missed opportunity" with President Bush's appointment to the Supreme Court. I have four words for her -- Bush won the election.

When you lose, your opinion doesn't count.

13. I saw that one too...
So I suppose that means her opinion doesn't count whenever there is a Democrat in office, right?
