How much did Kennedy's fund raiser cost taxpayers? |
|
from the Strib:
"The Cheney fundraiser was heavily secured by Secret Service agents and police from several Twin Cities jurisdictions. Parking wasn't allowed on two-lane Ferndale Road W. for at least a quarter-mile in each direction. Agents and police shooed passersby away from the end of the driveway because it was "inside the secure perimeter." A handful of neighbors moved about 25 yards down the road, hoping in vain to catch a glimpse of Cheney."
Why do taxpayers have to send their cops to a Kennedy fund-raiser at a private residence of a major bank president? What did this cost these "several Twin Cities jurisdictions?" Shouldn't these cops be doing something besides serving as bodyguards to fat-cat campaign contributors to GOP candidates? Like maybe protecting the homeland?
If there are enough cops hanging around the precincts to send to Bill Coopers house to provide private security for his fund raisers, we sure don't need to be throwing any more money toward cops for "homeland security."
Sure would be nice if some enterprising reporter calculated the cost to taxpayers of this fiasco. Maybe they could dip into the $300,000 they raised for Lapdog Kennedy to reimburse us.

1. they only raised 300,000? That seems pretty skimpy considering |
