Excellent City Pages article on the bane of MN: ATVs
Why is is that just because hundreds of thousands of dirt bags have bought these things, the state feels obligated to turn over public land for them to destroy? If everyone suddenly decided it was cool to own a tractor-trailer semi, would the state feel obligated to let them tear through the woods too?

"A lot of people, even a lot of environmentalists, don't realize the grave dangers presented by ATVs," Babcock ventures. "To me, there isn't anything more egregious. Yet the DNR acts like agents for Polaris and Arctic Cat. And the politicians are even worse." Polaris and Arctic Cat are Minnesota companies, he notes, and both have enjoyed the ample hospitality of the Pawlenty administration.

1. They ride those things in the 50 acre park behind my house--
and run off the egrets, spoonbills, etc.

After calling the Sheriff regularly, we've got them gone (and the minibikes, too).
