How abut meeting for a Saturday at 2 PM showing of "The Corporation"
at the Landmark Lagoon on July 24, 2004?

I don't think we would need to buy advanced tickets.

3. They just start seating then it should be good. It may not be so
busy either. We went opening weekend. Great doc. I am looking forward to someone discussing it later.

I recommend it. It's only playing for one week.

Michael Moore has a part in it.

So does the CEO of carpet company who has become an environmentalist and wants the company to be environmentally sustainable by 2020.

Becthel isn't portrayed favorably. Bechtel tries to take over the water of a town in Bolivia, and people protest and some of the protestors are killed and injured.

As you may know, Bechtel and Halliburton are receiving a lot of the billions of tax dollars going into Iraq.

14. Well, thanks for the review...
I really want to see it.

I wish more Americans were aware of the corporate schemes to privatize water supplies in South America. I can't figure out how anyone can think that government isn't serving citizen's best interests, but big business would?!?

15. Saw it last week
when first started. Went to the matinee. They had a group in the lobby inviting people for a meeting later in the week.
Felt good to be there, saw several Kucinich stickers, and of course Wellstone. And others collecting donations for the Democratic party - national, I think.

As for the movie itself, mixed feelings. I think that they threw in too many things that not all belonged there. Frankly, just seeing Jeremy Rifkin, an old gadfly who was against biotechnology during the 80s turned me off. I often wonder how people like that make a living. Him and Wolf, I think, from groups with names like science and the enlightened citizen and all they are doing are just making name for themselves.

That story about privatizing the water in Columbia was scary, though.

16. The Strib said it was, "fast paced."
Which is not what I expected to read. Do you think the movie would sustain the interest of bright, politically aware pre-teens? (My 13-year-old was very interested in F-9/11, but I didn't take the younger ones with us.)

17. No. "The Corporation" is for adults. Kids wouldn't like it.
