Stephanie Miller Coming to "Air America Minnesota"

Stephanie Miller

"Air America Minnesota" AM 950 is the Twin Cities' affiliate of "Air America Radio," a progressive talk radio network.

Currently "Air America Minnesota" plays "Morning Sedition" from 5-8 AM (Central Time). That show is produced by Air America's national studio in New York. It's hosted by Mark Riley and Marc Maron.

This is followed by Minnesota's own "Wendy Wilde Show" from 8-11AM.

Starting on Monday, October 17, the morning schedule will change.

Wendy Wilde will air on AM 950 from 6 -9AM.

Then Stephanie Miller will air from 9-11AM. (Since Stephanie Miller starts nationally at 8AM, this means that her first hour won't be played on "Air America Minnesota.")

Stephanie Miller's show is broadcast from Los Angeles, California, and...

She is a comedienne and daughter of former Republican U.S. Representative William Miller, Barry Goldwater’s running mate in the 1964 Presidential election.

The Stephanie Miller Show was launched in September 2004. It is produced by Democracy Radio, the Pioneer of Progressive Talk, and WYD Media Management. Jones Radio Networks distributes the show.

In other words, while Stephanie Miller's show will be played on "Air America Minnesota" starting on Monday, it isn't produced on distributed by the national "Air America Radio."

The line-up of "Air America Minnesota" starting on Monday should be (Central Time):
6 AM: Wendy Wilde from Minnesota
9 AM: Stephanie Miller from California
11 AM: Al Franken from New York
2 PM: Ed Schultz from North Dakota
6 PM: Janeane Garofalo & Sam Seder from New York
9 PM: Mike Malloy from Georgia

1. Great news for the Twin Cities

AAR-MN finally does something right after their censorship fiasco. What's going to happen when they hear her going off on crazed anti-abortionists? I started listening to Stephanie after Nick Coleman left because he didn't like being censored.

As for Wendy Wilde... why don't they play her at 2am instead of Randi Rhodes. And why do they continue to have the same person doing EVERY voiceover, bumper, promo, commercial etc etc etc. I have to turn off the station sometimes b/c that voice drives me nuts.

2. Air America: The Tour?
from Pollstar:

Air America On Tour?
Updated 03:44 PDT Sun, Oct 09 2005
Metropolitan Talent Presents' John Scher and Air America Radio talk show diva Randi Rhodes are working to take a different kind of show on the road - one that will combine political commentary, satire, music and comedy in a national tour of theatres and performing arts centers in 2006.
"It's in the very early planning stages, kind of in the think tank," Scher told Pollstar. "Air America has some generally well-known names like Al Franken and Janeane Garafalo, but Randi's become this regular hurricane force in its daily programming. She has a wildly loyal following, and it's just growing."
Scher and Rhodes envision a show with three parts: comedy, music and a "Politically Incorrect"-inspired panel discussion with people from both the left and right sides of the political spectrum.
Rhodes told MediaWeek.com she hopes to take the show to some of the 70-plus markets that have Air America affiliates.
"I don't want people to come watch me do radio because I really can't imagine what's more boring than that," Rhodes told the trade paper, adding she hopes to "really entertain them in a big way and a different way than they get from me on the radio. I'm so excited to do it."
Scher considers the tentative tour an example of his strategy for Metropolitan Talent Presents.
"My partner, Al Cafaro, and I have a long old relationship with (former Artemis Records CEO) Danny Goldberg, who now runs Air America. Danny is a card-carrying lefty and a good friend of ours and so we started having some dialogue," Scher explained.
"One of the things we're doing as a company right now is exploring live entertainment from a niche perspective. There's plenty of Clear Channels, AEGs, House of Blues and so on out there trying to control national tours of big superstars.
"We're not suggesting Randi's going to become an arena attraction but we feel confident that the small theatres and the performing arts centers will be something that we can be very successful at with her, and also extend the Air America brand beyond just radio airwaves," Scher said. "It's the first of many things like that you'll be hearing from us in the next year or so."

3. Dammit! I like Morning Sedition!
I'm gonna have to move my PC to the spare bedroom now so I can stream Mark and Mark while I get ready for work. Damn!

I've nothing against Wendy Wilde or Stephanie Miller. What does Roberts have against Morning Sedition anyway?

4. I'll miss Mark and Marc...
Wendy Wilde's sense of humor just doesn't do it for me.

7. I doubt Janet Roberts has anything against "Morning Sedition."
She probably just wanted to add Stephanie Miller, and moving Wendy Wilde to the "Morning Sedition" slot was the side-effect.

9. looking forward to hearing her
I listened to her show several times last summer when I was traveling in New England and loved her. I think she will be a great addition to the line up.
