Randi Rhodes Will Be Heard by More Minnesotans

I'm in Minnesota, in the Twin Cities area.

The local affiliate of the progressive radio network, "Air America Radio" is "Air America Minnesota."

Until recently, radio host Randi Rhodes was only played on "Air America Minnesota" in the middle of the night.

But Air America Minnesota has a new schedule this week, with Randi Rhodes from 6PM- 9PM Central Time:

Al Franken - 11AM
Ed Schultz - 2PM
Rachel Maddow - 5PM (rebroadcast)
Randi Rhodes - 6PM (rebroadcast)
Majority Report (with Sam Seder and Janeane Garafalo) - 9PM (rebroadcast)
Mike Malloy - midnight (rebroadcast)

The Rachel Maddow Show in the evening is a rebroadcast of the show she does early in the morning, played on "Air America Minnesota."

The Randi Rhodes Show, The Majority Report and The Mike Malloy Show are rebroadcasts of shows done 3 or 4 hours earlier, but not played on "Air America Minnesota."

People in Minnesota and elsewhere who want to listen to the latter shows live, can still do so via the Air America Radio website.

3. I noticed that this week, unfortunately....

the radio reception on 950 seems to drop off considerably right around sunset. I have no idea why, but it is frustrating! Wouldn't it be great if Air America had a signal like WCCO....

6. KTNF has different day-night antenna patterns

The drop off you notice is when the transmitter switches from a 2 to 3 tower pattern, changing the contours of the power output. Very common in old AM station licenses.

4. I was pleasantly suprised when I heard Randi this week

However, they've discontinued Morning Sedition, which I always love listening to every morning. I found this on the Morning Sedition forums:

Morning Sedition is being cancelled in Minnesota unfairly. The show, which did play from 5-8 am, has a loyal following in spite of the fact it was never advertised. Please help by writing to: [e-mail].

Wendy is good but too local-centric. The interviews bore me to tears but the Bachmann bits are a hoot.

AAM is now asking for Minnesotans to become "members" of a commercial radio station.

I'm disappointed.

8. I love listening to Randi on my drive home at 03:00!!

I hope they dont take her off that timeslot either. Its great she's on at 6pm too. I was suprised she wasnt on at first during the day.
