Who should run against Coleman in 2008?
I think Entenza might be able to do it.

Mike Ciresci deserves another shot.

Bill Finney would be good if he's not in his first term as mayor of Saint Paul (and I sure as hell hope that he is)

I'm not very confident about Betty McCollum in a state-wide race (sorry! that's just the way I see it)

Who else?

1. I left MN a year ago but I'll be VERY interested in that race
Coleman's win in '02 makes no sense. Absolutely NO sense. Although I don't live there anymore, I vow to donate money to who ever runs against Coleman.

When I first found out he actually won, I reconsidered my opinion that Minnesotans were smart people...but then I read the Vanity Fair article about BBV and Bev Harris was saying how that particular race was VERY suspicious so now my opinion of Minnesotans have been restored. Although, as a Texan, I will always think they're a little strange for willingly dealing with all that snow every damn winter. Odd. And they have a ton of misquitos in the summer. And yet they stay there. :)

2. What's the consensus of Minnesotans
on Coleman? Does anyone actually like him or are they counting the days until 2008 when they can kick his ass the hell out of there? I was so furious when he "won" (and I don't really think he did, frankly), especially since I loved Wellstone. I simply can't imagine having to look at that smirking, smug ugly mug as my senator!

7. It seems that both senators...
... were "on the rise"

Job approval for both Minnesota senators is on the rise
Eric Black, Star Tribune
January 24, 2004SEN24

As a growing number of Minnesotans form opinions about their freshmen U.S. senators, both Mark Dayton and Norm Coleman have rising job approval ratings, according to the latest Star Tribune Minnesota Poll. Both broke above the 50 percent mark for the first time.

Democrat Dayton, who is beginning his fourth year in office, has an approval rating of 58 percent, with 15 percent of Minnesotans disapproving of his performance and 27 percent expressing no opinion.

Republican Coleman, who is just starting his second year, has an approval rating of 54 percent, with 22 percent disapproval and 24 percent no opinion.

The poll of 821 adults was taken Jan. 15-20, a period that stretched from just before the Iowa caucuses to Tuesday evening, when President Bush delivered his State of the Union message.

Not being "Minnesotan" anymore, I can clearly state that I consider Norm Coleman to be a complete scumbag.

Just want to make sure I don't leave any 'wiggle room' in my statement. ;-)

4. Alan Page
If he could be persuaded to run it would be a landslide!

5. Number 88 in your program, #1 in your Heart
I can't be to certain of Page's positions on many issues, but after reading his opinions from the Bench, I am very much in synch with his general attitude toward government and government powers. He definately would make a winning candidate.

6. I agree
And my understanding is that he would be a left-leaning member of the DFL were he not in an office that is legally non-partisan.

10. I believe the rumor was that Alan
Page was the other person being considered to step in or considering stepping in to run after Senator Paul Wellstone was killed.

12. My understanding was that
Page turned down the offer to fill in for Paul Wellstone on the ballot.
