AL GORE SPEAKS OUT

An important speech

Former Vice President Al Gore delivered a speech that I consider the most important given in the last 30 years, correctly diagnosing and detailing the current constitutional crisis gripping our government.

I have no doubt that the Bush administration, with the cooperation of our docile media, will respond with "swift boat" attacks to deflect attention from the substance of Gore's speech.

Gore called for all Americans to resist the executive attack on the fundamental foundations of our democracy. Our forefathers saw the possibility of executive-branch abuses of power, and placed the responsibility of oversight in the hands of the American citizens.

I encourage all Americans to look beyond the inevitable "swift boat" attacks, and study the substance of this speech.

And, as you predicted, BushCo wasted no time in slamming Gore. Scotty and Alberto went on the offensive immediately, sounding like grade-schoolers ("Nah-nah, Clinton did it too-ooo!").

I think we will see more and more overt nastiness in the next few months.

I read the whole A section first thing every morning before going on to the rest.
Started out on a sour note, there was like 3 letters all lambasting Ted Kennedy's past and personality, nothing about the contents of what he said in the hearings.
Then, our man bvar at the end -- I knew it was you!
