anybody going to the 'Can't Wait' demo at the fed building MPLS? |
|
thinking of going. can't stand to listen to GWB's voice and will read a transcript later. thinking of taking my 14-year-old son for his first taste of real dissent. wondering though if there will be counter-demonstrators or thumper cops. any advice?

1. Great! There's a strong sense of unity |
|
and community that comes with standing shoulder to shoulder with others who also hate Junior's policies.
Usually there are 2-3 lonely counterprotestors, a couple drive-by hecklers. They probably won't be out tonight, though. They'll be glued to their sets!
I've never seen the police get nasty, they usually stand across the street and watch and tonight they'll also guard the doors of the Fed Bldg.
Sooner or later at one of the protests some people might take it over the top (break a window or something) but that hasn't happened -- yet.

2. i had class, i couldn't go |
|
it was painfully boring tonight, and i almost hopped on the bus during our break at 7.15, but i'm trying to make up for my first semester of really screwing off, and last semester of mediocrity.
anyway, i'd really like to hear a report back if anybody went.
