Peace candidate to challenge Sabo in MN 5th
I came across that this St Thomas professor, Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, is planning a primary campaign against Sabo on a peace platform. What do people know about him?

1. Good. We don't need anymore RUBBER STAMPS.
I know Sabo is much loved. Hell, he's been in Congress longer than some DUers have been alive.

But he is part of the establishment that says "Don't blame the Democrats" for anything while they keep voting for Bush's destructive policies or take a passive stance. We, the people, are stuck here in outrage while our Congresspeople sit like stumps.

3. I remember him from the Nuclear Freeze movement in the 1980s
Worth a thought, even though Sabo is an Auggie like me.

4. clever stuff on web site
Nelson-Pallmeyer's web site looks pretty good. I particularly like his page on political courage . . .

http://www.backjack2006.org/politicalcourage.html

Political Courage:
Some Serious Humor

Throughout this campaign I’m going to try to be politically courageous and use what I call “1 + 1 = 2 Talk.”

Here are some examples:

Oil is one main reason the Bush administration invaded/ occupies Iraq. 1 + 1 = 2.

The administration invaded and occupies Iraq as part of a much bigger and dangerous project for global domination that the neoconservatives call, “America’s grand strategy.” 1 + 1 = 2

The administration intentionally sowed a politics of fear after 9/11/2001 and intentionally lied to the American people about the “Iraqi threat” so it could invade and occupy Iraq as part of its grand strategy. 1 + 1= 2

The U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq fulfills one of Osama bin Laden’s wildest fantasies. 1 + 1 = 2

Burning fossil fuels causes global warming. 1 + 1 = 2

Because the United States has less than 5% of the world’s people and uses 25% of the world’s oil (60% of which is imported) we are a big contributor to global warming and have a big responsibility to do something about it. 1 + 1 = 2

U.S. leaders’ project U.S. oil consumption to rise between 31-50% by the year 2025 and therefore they are certifiably insane. (Okay, the first part of the sentence is an example of 1 + 1 = 2 Talk but the last half is iffy).

What is truly remarkable is that these statements of simple truth shouldn’t require political courage at all. Here is how and why speaking simple truth has become an act of political courage (this is the serious humor part).

1 + 1 = 3 (Karl Rove)
1 + 1 = 3 (President Bush)
1 + 1 = 3 (Donald Rumsfeld)
1 + 1 = 3 (Condoleza Rice)
1 + 1 = 2.9995 (Colin Powell)
1 + 1 = 3 (Congressional Republicans)
“Bush Administration Says 1 + 1 = 3 (Mainstream Media 5000 times)
“Debate Rages, Does 1 + 1 = 3? Some Dems Disagree” (New York Times)
1 + 1 = 3 (Fox News 1 million times)
1+ 1 = 3 (Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Irving Kristol -- 5 billion times)
1 + 1 = 2 (Jon Stewart, nightly)
1 + 1 = 2 (commondreams.org, nightly)

“We’re pretty sure 1 + 1 = 2 not 3 but we support the president and believe he has the right to say 1 + 1 = 3 during a time of war.” (Many Congressional Democrats)

“We’re pretty, pretty, pretty sure 1 + 1 = 2 not 3 but it’s the Republican’s fault” (Many Congressional Democrats)

1 + 1 = 2 (Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer)

Here are three other examples of “1 + 1 = 2 Talk”:

Anger + Political Cynicism = Problems get worse.

Being Right + Political Cynicism = Problems get worse.

Anger + Hope + Good Vision + Good Priorities + Willingness to Act + Viable Candidate = Reason for Hope and with a lot of hard work, Victory

This is a partnership and I need your help. Flood the Precinct Caucuses on March 7 and get appointed to the Senate District Conventions.
