Did anyone see that pro-bush ad that tried to tie Saddam to |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 10:00 AM by myrna minx
9-11, the USS Cole the first world trade bombing? It aired right before CSI Thursday night on WCCO. Is starts by having a montage of National Guard members saying that the media doesn't report the good things that are happening in Iraq (while showing purple stained fingers.) The commercial transitions to Saddam being the "the biggest murderous tyrant" or something like that, then it tries to tie Saddam to 9-11. It states that the war in Iraq is needed for the global war on terror--these are the people who attacked us on 9/11 blah blah blah. It was pure pro-bush propaganda. It was a soft money ad-I missed who did it. I can't help but think that it was too coincidental to have this air the same day that bush has his terra-terra-terra speech. There was big money put into this. I want to identify these folks, because I speculate that this is being tested in our market for a national roll out. I recall the name had "voter" in it. Anyone know?

4. Becky Lourey on Pro-War TV Ad Buy |
|
I didn't see the ad, but I did get this statement e-mailed by Lourey campaign . . .
www.beckylourey.org Statement Feb. 9, 2006
Becky Lourey on Pro-War TV Ad Buy
The “Progress for America” ad starts out emphasizing the heroic service of our soldiers, and certainly we want to honor their service to our state and nation. But the message is manipulative, leading to a false conclusion about the true reasons for going to war in Iraq. Blaming the media for reporting the truth won’t change the facts.

I just sent an email to WCCO management that I would no longer view their station until the ads were dropped. Perhaps a few more might join in and lets see if they listen to us.

11. I emailed WCCO about this and told them I expected them to be |
|
more discerning when accepting ads like this. I also suggested that Pat Kessler take this on in one of his "Reality Checks". I tried the link for contacting Kessler directly, but couldn't get it to work so I just went through their regular "contact us" link.

Even though it was WCCO radio that didn't run the Pawlenty ad, I wish I'd known about this before I sent my email to WCCO television.
