Michele Bachmann: armed and dangerous
Is anyone else concerned that someone with such a history of whacked behavior as Michele Bachmann holds a license to carry a handgun? I thought they had mental health standards for granting a "concealed-carry" permit. And is anyone aware of any other politician or political candidate who brags on their website that they may be carrying a handgun in their purse? Is this some kind of implied warning to her adversaries to "Don't mess with Michele?"

From Bachmann's website:

"Michele is a concealed and carry permit holder."

1. Would someone so wimpy as to hide behind bushes actually shoot to kill?
You have to wonder.

2. scared people do stupid things
Sometimes the most dangerous people are earth are the ones who are frightened, because the fear actually blocks their ability to think rationally and they react based on panic.

Yes, there's a broader political allegory to this as well.

6. One of my sister-in-law's dogs has some fear aggression issues
She (the dog, not my sister-in-law) will strike out when she feels threatened. She bit the vet tech last time she was in for shots. (Much to the tech's obvious disgust, the vet told him he asked for it by not paying attention to the dog's body language and looking her right in the eye.) The dog was a rescue animal and had been abused as a pup. Fortunately, her behavior can be modified and she is making progress...I don't hold the same hope for Bachmann.

3. LOL! I checked out the link and it says...
"You are not authorized to view this resource. You need to login."

I've never seen that on the website of a publicly elected official. Is she just a little paranoid? Is she just a little secretive? Do you have to give her your name and e-mail address just to read about what she is doing as a representative of the people of her district?

Bachmann is truly weird.

4. That link worked this morning--does Bachmann read DU?
Seems Michele may be making some changes to her "Issues" page after this was posted. You can still see it in Google's cache here:

http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:i1khR7vvEEYJ:www.michelebachmann.com/main/index.php%3Foption%3Dcom_content%26task%3Dview%26id%3D17%26Itemid%3D34+&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1

Maybe someone should get a screen cap of that cached page for future reference.

5. I took it one step more and saved the Google cache
to my hard drive as an IE .mht self contained web page.

I have it if anyone wants it in the future.

7. So, I checked out your link again today and I still get...
the "must login" message. But, when I accessed the site through Google, I did get the full page.

Is it possible that she is blocking access to her site to certain "undesirables" like DUers?

8. You can only access it through Google's "cache"
Her staff definitely put the kibosh to the page because it doesn't exist on her campaign website currently. Google's cache is simply a copy of the page as it was originally viewed. She can run, but she can't hind from Google!

Bachmann is on the radio tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, February 25). KTLK FM 100.3, the new wingnut station that took over Limbaugh and Hannity from KSTP, from 1 pm-2 pm. Someone should call in and ask her whether she's packing heat. Someone also should ask her about exactly what her "career" as a tax litigation attorney consisted of.

9. Okay, I get it now. (Thanks.) But, something else I noticed...
about her site, through that link, is that there isn't actually a place to log-in. There is a spot to sign-up for e-mail alerts, but that's it. No explanation is given for needing "authorization" to view her page.

If they were simply changing the content, I would expect the site to say "We are updating, sorry."
