Too harsh?
Regarding school levy's

Lloyd Xxxxxxx was right, schools keep asking for more money. Lets ask our kids if they can sacrifice even more. We took away art programs, daily physical education, daily music classes, they are sometimes served garbage for lunch (‘taco in a bag’is just disgusting). My one child already has 25 kids in his class, but maybe if we got rid of one of the other classrooms we could absorb those kids and have a class of 40! That’s where real learning takes place, 1 teacher and 40 eight year olds.
It’s bad enough that there are 25 kids per classroom where the NEA recommends 15. I will pay higher taxes to benefit children’s education for the rest of my life because it’s the right thing to do. I will benefit from children’s education even though it is something that I cannot see or touch. People complain about taxes, where do you think the roads come from, or the police, or firefighters? Why do you think power lines have to be a certain height off the ground or that homes are built so they don’t collapse? Taxes are what we pay to maintain our standard of living in all aspects of our lives; we don’t get to cherry pick the most irritating. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, if we want to save taxpayer money, how about we require Wal-Mart to pay for health insurance for its own employees? We could maintain the Estate Tax (I’m positive the dead won’t mind unless you’re Carl Pohlad; he must have found a way to bring it with him).

Our government is a Representative Republic, it is not a Democracy. We elect people to represent our interests. In one of the Federalist papers (10 or 51 I forget) I think it was James Madison that wrote the idea behind a representative republic is so that the whim of the majority cannot be used to oppress a minority. In other words, majority rule does not always equate to what is right. Those who advocate banning gay marriage do so out of weakness and bigotry. They don’t have the faith that God will sort it out so they need a law. People like Bachmann can’t pass bigoted legislation legitimately so she needs to rely on the intolerance of the people to get it done. Gays and lesbians make up 2 percent of the population yet people like Michelle spend an enormous amount of time trying to limit their rights. I don’t care if gay people get married. You shouldn’t either.
