House MN 61B - Supporter of Farheen Hakeem Changes His Mind
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 10:36 AM by Avidor
From the Mpls Upside Down blog:

http://mplsupsidedown.blogspot.com/2008/02/change-of-heart-on-farheen-hakeem.html

"In a lengthy post under a thread called "Withdrawal of Support," Gambill elucidates in very specific terms Hakeem's propensity for big talk, no action, and race baiting. Or as Gambill says, "Farheen talks the talk yet fails time and again to walk the walk."

Guy Gambill continued his accusations on the Mpls Issues forum:

Ms. Hakeem is perenially portraying herself as a member of some oppressed class...nothing could be further from the truth. She is one of the most opportunistic, self-centered of politicians...it is always about her, no matter the issue.Over the next few days I will be happy to post some of Farheen's comments on the issues she lists and you can decide for yourselves. Ms. Hakeem, if she would like to publicly demonstrate her expertise on housing, predatory lending, homelessness, veterans services, community policing, Justice reform, urban planning, any of these and more...I would be happy to stand toe to toe and let her take a shot...she would most definitely lose and she knows it. Her knowledge of most of these things, at best, is slim. Hard-working? Yeah, I guess. I think Ms. Hakeem just returned from her 6th trip out of the State recently--this time to Colorado. She tries to portray herself as working-class. Hardly. Farheen wouldn't know poverty if it jumped up and bit her in the butt. Fine, as for her heavy participation on the issues as she portrays...well, we shall see. Farheen's ostensible concern for her "peeps" is not well thought out and this, more than anything, will be reflected if she is elected to the legislature. She, as a Green, will be without a caucus, without a senior legislator. She will have a hard time accomplishing much of anything at all and, when the next Green or Muslim runs for office they will remember that the last one didn't accomplish anything...Farheen never stops to consider that at all...though many of us discussed this with her. I still challenge her to produce one City Ordinance, One Law, one specific change she began, carried and finished. She can't. The Housing and Communities of Color thing is a fine example. What she fails to address is why the series stopped when I went to the CCJ...if she were capable of doing it herself, why didn't she? Farheen is a basically a wealthy, spoiled brat who regularly engages in bashing a) White men (when she doesn''t get her way) b). men period. The latest example of this would be her ranting in my apartment about Keith Ellison, who she met with two weeks ago.

Transparency and Justice? Yeah, right. Hardly. Farheen cashed me out when I argued with her about the Native Meeting (for her a shiny new constituency to take advantage of). She, of course, knows so much more about the community than I after all of 3 week's worth of heavy research. I have worked with the Cheyenne, Abenaki and Ojibwe peoples for over 10 years on Native Language preservation... never, unlike Farheen, "cashing" in on the contribution. But she now knows more about even that realm of endeavor. If you want to vote for an opportunist who has bashed every male ally she has ever had (talk to Jay Pond, ask him his opinion). Vote for Hakeem. If you want to support a parvenu to Minnesota politics who sows discord and deception in her wake, no matter the issue, vote Hakeem! If you wish to see communities further divided. Vote Hakeem! If you like candidates who talk a lot but won't do
anything.

Vote Hakeem! In fifteen minutes she can gain expertise in any issue that will exceed that of any man...but when asked to prove it you will be called a sexist, a racist, a misogynist. Whatever. One of us has worked and hasn't asked for anything for nearly 3 decades. The other has spent brief periods and is forever asking for her due (witness the latest deep endeavor: 6 months "lobbying" for Grasstops...now she is the expert).Ms. Hakeem has bashed nearly every local politician. From Keith Ellison, to Phyllis Khan and on and on....and she has done so publicly. How does it feel, Farheen? You go right ahead and take your best shot....step up any time you think you can handle the exchange on any of these issues...I will be all too happy to publicly demonstrate how thin your knowledge really is...the people of
this

City deserve more than another hack, whether the hack wears an hijab or a business suit. You ain't, in your words, "all that".

Wow!
