Wingnut columnist Craig Westover compares Michele Bachmann to Paul Wellstone
In an article on Bachmann's critics and fans in the blogoshere, local hack Craig Westover says Bachmann's behavior in Congress is no different than Wellstone's:

http://tinyurl.com/6glls4

"Westover adds that Bachmann isn't the first Minnesota politician to generate controversy.

"If you look at Wellstone early in his career...he walked up to (a more senior Republican senator) at a cocktail party and started talking politics, and that was something that just wasn't done," he said. "Bachmann's made similar mistakes...the long hug with the president is something that's just not done...(but) both share a deep sense of uncompromising principle that they stand up for."

What a blathering moron this guy is. :puke:

2. What is with these 2 papers?
I don't read the Pioneer Porn as much, mostly in the lunchroom at work there is a copy lying around.
Sometimes I will skim Westover's column but usually ignore it.
But does anyone notice this - the lineup of columnists each day?
One day Brooks, then Debra J. Saunders (thought they shitcanned her column, it is ridiculous), then George Will, then Charles Krauthammer.
Don't even tell me Steve Chapman is a counter-balance.
Lori Sturdevant is pretty good and does not strike me as a water-carrier like the above list.
Molly is gone now, we get Garrison Keillor once a week and I find him not overly easy to read.
In the general news in the Red Star Tribune, the stories are favorable to Pawlenty and give more context to the Republican point of view then some standalone comments from DFL'ers.
Don't get me started on Katherine Kersten who has successfully whipped up some of her goofball wingnut readers into threatening violence against the muslim charter school in Inver Grove.

Why oh why don't I cancel my subscription? Somebody help me!!

3. Dropping readership means drastic actions
They are going to plug as much out of the old, paper media as they can. That partly means an older, greyer, readership that grows red with age. The assumption is as you get older, you become more conservative, hence more Republican. All the younger readers are online and do not bring in as much revenue from the ads.

You also have to look at the owners, both the Trib and the PP have been bought and sold to parent companies who have a much more conservative viewpoint. It was better when Knight-Ridder and McClatchy were around but they are gone now.

4. Red Star?
That's what the wingnuts call the Strib because they think it's too liberal.

5. Yes, I know
An attempt at irony given the actual bent of these papers, not just in the editorial pages.

Sorry, apparently I've become irony deficient.

7. That's as funny as the wingnuts calling CNN "liberal" and the Clintons "far left"
But it's also sad, in that it's been an awful long time since a REAL leftist has gotten any extensive press coverage in this country.
