What's everyone doing election night?
I know the DFL is having their usual gathering downtown but I'm not sure I want to head down there.

4. Obsessively watching C-SPAN...
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 11:00 PM by Dickie Flatt
...checking Kos and DU and my other bookmarks. Checking the Secretary of State's website. Updating my blog to report any suspicious GOP activity and to gloat. Chewing my fingernails down to nothing. Grinding my teeth to the gums. Constant knuckle cracking. Nervous shaking. And to top it all off, I'll go to sleep either insanely happy or a broken man.

It'll be a hell of a night.

6. Looking for a place to party early
I've been co-ordinating door knocks for Rep Clark since August and recently joint ones with the Kerry campaign. We will probably have a party somewhere and then head downtown about 9:00

I don't have the time but I would think it would be going by 7ish when the polls start closing out east. Do we want to try and set up a DU meet at it?

17. Got the details on the Hilton bash in an email from the DFL today
This year’s ELECTION NIGHT PARTY is a fantastic celebration to commemorate the growth of the DFL, the success of all Democratic candidates, and to thank all volunteers, activists, and staff who contributed to our accomplishments. Without the help of all volunteers and staff, victory would never be possible, so please come and celebrate with us!

The festivities will be held at the Hilton Ballroom, 1001 Marquette Avenue South, in Minneapolis. Polls close at 8:00pm, and then the party begins! Hotel rooms are reserved and available for all guests. To reserve a room for the night please call the Hilton before noon on Tuesday October 26th
at (612) 376-1000

Though, the bash a Kieran's sounds interesting as well. I still haven't made up my mind what I'm going to do. Usually there's a local gathering which I'd usually go to, but I haven't heard anything about one this year. I do know I don't want to be home alone.

Minnesota Senate District 61 DFL

Election Night Party
Tuesday, November 2
Kieran's Irish Pub
330-2nd Ave. So. Mpls. MN. 55401
Ph (612) 339-4499 Fax (612) 339-4145
www.kierans.com

We've booked the back room with the big screen TV. This will be a celebration of our grassroots efforts, a reward for all of our hard work, and a chance to swap war stories. So, take election day off to get out the vote, and then come by Kieran's to blow off steam and celebrate with like-minded folks. You deserve it. We all deserve it. So, if you don't already have plans, stop by. All are welcome. Party begins when the polls close.

I also received this email today from DFA. I am planning to drive people to the polls on Tuesday as well and then to attend an event downtown.

I live in a largely republican neighborhood and prefer to be somewhere other than home that night!

44. How about two years? ;-)
Big governor's and US Senate race in 2006, plus all state legislative seats up for grabs.

Quite frankly, I'm really looking forward to the next one-- IMHO that one will have a greater impact locally than this years' races will.

Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 11:11 AM by Lydia Leftcoast
I will be ready to attend a party on Election Night. I vote for the downtown one, since I tend to drink more when I'm happy than when I'm sad, and if Kerry wins, AND we get rid of a few Republicanite Congresscritters, I'll be in no shape to drive and would prefer to take the bus home. :-)

So, once again, shall there be a DU delegation to one bash or another?

from 7:30AM-8:00PM to make sure people get to the polls. After that I'll probably go home and either collapse from exhaustion or stay up and watch the returns on C-SPAN so I can uncork the champagne when the election is called for Kerry.

I'll be working the polls making sure that every eligible voter gets to vote.

Right now I'm making copies of the flyer found here and will find some good places to post it.

This is the Minnesota Voter Bill of Rights.

I'm working to keep Minnesota from doing what FL did in 2000.

40. Wow, that's cool
I dunno what I'm doing tonight: can't decide whether to go out or not. Work has been a real b@$t4rd lately-- our 16,000-page web site utterly collapsed for 48+ hours on 10/14, and I've been busting my hump to recover it over the last couple weeks. :(

Hey, get in touch if you're done early-- maybe we can hunt down a celebration to crash!

Hope the counting goes well for you-- I have a VERY good feeling about this election!!!!
