Tinklenberg endorsed by Independent Party

Just walked with El in a parade this evening. He had come from winning the Independent Party endorsement. So he has both DFL and Independent Party endorsement. YES!!!!

In the Sixth District race, where Tinklenberg is challenging Republican incumbent Michele Bachmann, a wide majority of delegates at the party's state convention passed on a party member, which is not unprecedented, said party chair Craig Swaggert.

"It happens from time to time," he said. "We tend to want to support good candidates and Tinklenberg was much more in line with our platform and beliefs than the Republican."

Tinklenberg spoke to the delegates Saturday afternoon; Bachmann did not.

The Independence Party, under whose banner Jesse Ventura won the governorship a decade ago, has since fallen on hard times, with no significant election victories.

3. This is excellent news!

Bachmann won the 6th in 2006 with only 50.3% of the vote. John Binkowski took 8%. Patty Wetterling took the rest. By combining DFL and IP forces this year, Bachmann is in trouble. Meanwhile, she's not making any friends up in St. Cloud:

A caller shall not use or connect to a telephone line an automatic dialing-announcing device
unless: (1) the subscriber has knowingly or voluntarily requested, consented to, permitted, or
authorized receipt of the message; or (2) the message is immediately preceded by a live operator
who obtains the subscriber's consent before the message is delivered. This section and section
325E.30 do not apply to (1) messages from school districts to students, parents, or employees, (2)
messages to subscribers with whom the caller has a current business or personal relationship, or
(3) messages advising employees of work schedules.
