3. She came in second tonight for her comments about another pipeline in Alaska

he mentioned her comment about caribou being able to "coffee klatches" along them. Then he yelled "You people elected this woman!" Makes one proud to be a Minnesotan.

I'm trying to give Michelle the benefit of the doubt on this one. She might be confused because of Caribou Coffee Shops.

Bachmann's words are in line with a Republican argument that drilling in the arctic would have minimal negative environmental consequences, a point fellow Minnesota Republican U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman has repeatedly rejected.

Conservative pundits and media figures such as Rush Limbaugh and Jonah Goldberg have advanced similar arguments recently, with Rush saying that "the caribou have multiplied, 'cause they like the warmth that surrounds the pipeline."

However, scientific studies have found that pipeline construction can and does lead to greater caribou calf mortality and a reduction in the population.

And while caribou populations in some locations have increased, apparently that has come despite the fact that they have been "crowded out" of their traditional migration paths due to the pipelines.
