I'm glad Klobuchar voted No, because it means I'll be more comfortable at DFL events where she speaks.

The bill passed, though.

1. I just called her office to say "thanks"
I was half-expecting to see a "Yea" by her name, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Why?

5. Because he knows the left -
(though why only "the left" cares about the Constitution is beyond me) - has no where else to go. And, while he's not an official member of the DLC, his voting record would make them smile. (Speaking of the DLC, Clinton (who I'm not fond of either), voted "no". I wonder how she would have voted if she had the nomination wrapped up or if the FISA vote had been close?)

Is it too late for the delegates to rebel and nominate an actual Democrat?

6. Nancy Pelosi deserves a lot of the blame for the bill.
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 09:33 AM by Eric J in MN
Obama's statement was that we need the bill to fight "grave threats" to our national security.

My theory is that Obama didn't want to be seen as to the left of Nancy Pelosi on an issue. Nancy Pelosi voted for the bill and called it a "compromise."

If instead, Nancy Pelosi had introduced that same bill while calling it rotten and voting against it, then more Democrats would have probably voted against it, including Obama.

Of course, Nancy Pelosi didn't have to introduce the bill at all.

I'd like for us to have a new Speaker of the House.

7. I'd like a new speaker too
but Pelosi's poor leadership doesn't excuse Obama.
