1. WhooooHOOOOO! Damn, I wanted to drive up there so much, but
gas is SO damn high and I am SO damn broke, just couldn't do it and didn't know anyone in my area who was going to be able to go. Awesome!

7. We cheated and left a little early, before the crowd would start moving
and then, once inside the car, turned on 91.1 FM and could hear the rest of Kerry's speech. Even better than inside the rally where, as someone else pointed out, the sound system was not great.

5. Yeah, Portlanders are great at turning out for outdoor rallies
Around 1997 or so, I took part in a spirited (but futile, given the Republican dominated legislature) march for education funding that attracted 30,000 people.

I also participated in a peace march that attracted a similar number just before the Iraq War began.

But I could tell that the Twin Cities were turning out for Kerry today. :-)
