My mother (age 83) was polled by the Republicans
who seemed to assume that she would be voting for Bush, just because she lives in Wayzata.

She says that she told them, "Definitely not!"

The pollster seemed flustered and asked, "Why not?"

She answered, "Because he's a liar and a cheat, and he sent all those young people off to die for nothing."

After some silence, the pollster asked, "Well what about (whoever the Republican state representative candidate is out there)?"

"Who's he running against?" my mother asked.

The Republican pollster gave her the name of the DFL candidate for that position.

"Then that's who I'm voting for," she said.

And that was the end of that conversation!

You do not want to tangle with my mom when she has made up her mind. :-)

2. I talked to an 80 something at her door the other day.
She said she always voted for Bushes, but now definitely not, because "He started this stupid awful war."

She said she will stay home.

3. I think my 88 year old father will do likewise
He's been amazingly silent on the subject of George Weasel Bush for about a year and a half, now. He strongly supported Idiot in 2000, even though everybody around him warned him what will happen.

I fully expect him to sit this one out.

4. Good for your mom!
I get the feeling that many future elections are down the drain for the Republican party. The twisted man in charge is the opposite of King Midas: Everything the coWardly chickenhaWk touches turns to disaster. The most hated man in the world.

5. "Then that's who I'm voting for," she said.....Hahahahahaa
She's not the only one in the newly formed "anyone but a republican" voters group.
I've talked to a number of previously swing voters that have planted their feet firmly in the "straight democratic ticket" camp.

With the dem party gaining focus in the face of GWB, maybe the party will bring his face out in future elections to rally the base.
Buxh may go down in history as the best thing to ever happen to the democratic party.

6. Love it!
There must be something about women in their 80's, this sounds a lot like my mom and her sisters.

Maybe it's like my dad's mother told me - "Once you get to be 80 you can say any damn thing you want and if people don't like it, let 'em think you're senile."
