How bad does Timmy Pawlenty want the national stage? If Palin
resigns, would Timmy come in from the bullpen of rejects?

1. A good question.
Timmy the Tool has been crawling around with his brown little nose up McAncient's keester for at least a year. You could almost see him drool when reporters asked him about his VP chances. I could almost (but not quite) feel sorry for him, considering how he figuratively crawled naked over broken glass to get the RNC to come to St. Paul, and jumped all over the legislature to approve funding to get that embarrassing freeway bridge repaired in time (doing a 180 from his previous refusal to fund a $6B highway project).

And after all this, McCain kicked him right in the groin at the last minute, picking someone who is even more wingnutty and unqualified than he is -- at least he's been the governor of a medium-sized state and has experience as a lawyer and a state legislator.

So considering this, would Timmy abase himself even further and take sloppy seconds in case Palin either withdraws or is pushed out?

I'm guessing he would.

2. I'm guessing he would as well
and no doubt go down on his knees (to thank God) to accept.

I loved this letter to today's Strib about Timmy's ambitions:

For years Minnesota has sacrificed for Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

When our roads and bridges decayed, it was so GOP leaders would know Pawlenty was a good conservative foot-soldier.

When state funds to cities were cut, it was so Pawlenty could demonstrate his conservative bona fides to Beltway Republicans.

When education funds were slashed, it was so that Pawlenty could prove he was ready to be a vice presidential candidate.

Now Pawlenty is not John McCain's vice presidential pick! So why has Minnesota sacrificed so much on behalf of Tim Pawlenty's failed ambitions?

A Palin resignation would be evidence of John McCain's poor judgment, and the Republicans would become demoralized. I know because this happened to me with Thomas Francis Eagleton, McGovern's choice for a VP candidate.

What followed was one of the biggest landslides in presidential history. The Republicans know this and I bet they would rather go down with their pick than switch. That's what Bush would do, and we know McSame wants to serve his third term.
