Pawlenty Won't Attend McCain's Rally Today
For many months, nearly every time John McCain brought his presidential campaign to Minnesota, Gov. Tim Pawlenty was close by his side.

Not today.

When McCain and running mate Sarah Palin hold a noon rally in Blaine, Pawlenty will be 200 miles away in Nashwauk, on the Iron Range, taking part in a steel plant groundbreaking.

"No one should make any assumptions ," Pawlenty spokesman Bob Schroeder said. "The governor isn't doing anything but continuing his full-throated support for Sen. McCain."

Yeah, whatever.

1. Rally
I am sure that Pawlenty doesn't care that he was thrown under the bus for "Caribou Barbie".

4. This Nashwauk story is HUGE news for the Iron Range, Minnesota!

Nashwauk breaks ground on new steel plant
by Minnesota News Network, MNN
September 19, 2008
St. Paul, Minn. — State and federal officials will be in Nashwauk today as ground is broken for the new Minnesota Steel Plant.

It is billed as a "mining-through-steelmaking" facility, the first of its kind on the Iron Range. It has a price tag of more $1.5 billion.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., said the plant is a large investment in the state.

"With the demand going up for steel worldwide, this is an opening for the Iron Range. And it's been very difficult the last few years and that's why as Senator from Minnesota, and with roots on the Iron Range, it's always been very important for me to encourage those jobs up there," Klobuchar said.

Backers say the Minnesota Steel Plant will generate more than 2,000 construction jobs and 700 permanent jobs.

5. Makes sense for him to be in Nashwauk.
I don't blame the governor at all on this one.

6. Nice of Timmy to decide he wants to be governor again.
A month ago he would have skipped this to kiss McCain's wrinkled old butt.
