Are there any debates scheduled between Al & his OPPONENT? |
|
I know Normie is Al's opponent, but I wanted to refer to him in a non de-script way just as the repubiCON's refer to Democrats.

1. There's one that's going to be broadcast on Minnesota PBS stations, but |
|
I don't remember when it is.

2. I would assume a 3 way debate |
|
Since Dean Barkley is polling 12-15%.

3. About a week ago, Al Franken was on "The Ed Schultz (radio) Show", |
|
...and Franken said that he's still negotiating debates with Coleman but that Coleman has to do them.

5. 5 debates scheduled in the U.S. Senate race |
|
GOP Sen. Norm Coleman, DFLer Al Franken and I-P candidate Dean Barkley have agreed to five debates. Here are the details:
Sunday, October 5 Location: Rochester Sponsor: Debate Minnesota
Saturday, October 11 Location: Twin Cities Sponsor: Debate Minnesota and KARE-11 and Kare11.com
Thursday, October 16 Location: Duluth Sponsor: Debate Minnesota
Friday, October 24 Location: Almanac Sponsor: Twin Cities Public Television
Sunday, November 2 Location: Fitzgerald Theater, St. Paul Sponsor: Minnesota Public Radio
The three campaigns acknowledge that, to reach agreement, each campaign made compromises in good faith regarding the number, venues, and formats of the debates. The candidates will not accept other debate invitations.
Specific times will be established and announced. The venues and panelists for the first three debates remain to be identified, and co-sponsors may be added. To promote substantive answers, the campaigns have agreed that, for the first three debates, each candidate will have two minutes to answer a question and one minute for rebuttal.

6. Thanks for the info - hopefully Cspan will carry them! |
|
As a resident of Michigan, I have followed this race with great interest. I think Al is a fantastic candidate and would make a great Senator for Minnesota.
While I was on vacation this past summer (visiting my wife's family in Rochester) I visited the local DFL office in Rochester. I got a little agitated at my repub brother-in-law so I went by the office and made a donation and got myself an Al Franken bumper sticker and the Al Franken trading cards (I thought that was just to cool). The folks in the office were very nice and rather surprised to here I was from Michigan. While talking to one of the ladies in the office I found out her sister actually lives in my city back in Michigan (It is a small world!)
Best of luck to Al!!

7. It's stupid to have a debate on November 2. |
|
The election is November 4.
People have decided by two days before an election.

8. I wouldn't be so sure of that.. |
|
I think a lot of people go into the booth, look at both names, and go with a gut feeling then and there.
