Recount judges
Just talked to the Scott County elections official and asked her about volunteering as a recount judge (I was an Election Judge on Tuesday). She said that the state is handling procedures for this, and so far they have not been contacted on how to proceed. She didn't know if they (the state) would somehow be procuring judges, or if the county office would be asked to get them. She did take down my name so that *if* they're asked, she'll have some people to contact.

The wheels of justice turn slowly...

I donated another 50 bucks to the recount for Al. Well worth the investment.

2. Good for you!
I'm cautiously optimistic. And regardless of the outcome, I'll feel much better knowing that we followed the process and did the only right thing. I think - although it's hard to say because of the revulsion I feel for him - that I'd feel the same way if positions were reversed. I wouldn't hold it against Coleman for supporting a recount. 236 ÷ 2,860,225 = .008251099% of the total vote. That's crazy insane - you gotta do the recount.

5. This line caught my eye:
"Team Coleman will also need funding for the recount effort. In addition to all other contributions, individuals will be able to donate $2,300 per person or $5,000 PAC. More to come on this effort."

The recount is mandated by state law so the campaigns are not paying for it. What kind of crooked deal are the Republicans and Normie trying now?

6. The campaigns will have their own expenses during the recount
Al Franken was on the radio yesterday (I believe with Ed Schulz) and mentioned that they will accept donations for the recount to help pay the expenses for all the observers they will need. Lawyers will be required too, I would expect, and they're not cheap.

8. You'd think Norm could get the money from his wealthy friends
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 01:54 PM by dflprincess
they can funnel it through Laurie - who must be in a snit over this. I imagine she's pretty anxious to get back to California and her real "career".
