So... Did John McCain throw it on purpose? |
|
The net result of the election is that people are more concerned about our common interests rather than what divides us.
Sarah Palin is the perfect example. Apparently stupid, she represents the far right, anti-science, bible-banging, knuckle draggers. Who would have done a better job in revealing an 'in your face' choice between smart and stupid?
Is it possible that John McCain has handed the country, in land-slide fashion, to someone who is smart and has the country's best interest in mind? Is this John McCain's way of f&*%ing Carl Rove and Bush for 2000? In his concession speech McCain looked relieved, calm and collected.
The result for the democrats could not have been better. I dont believe McCain is an idiot; it is possible he again has sacrificed for his country.
Just a thought.

4. According to South Park last night, he and Obama planned this years ago ... |
|
Part of an elaborate plan to get access to the White House emergency evacuation tunnel which runs directly under the Smithsonian building containing the Hope diamond ... so they could steal it, ala Oceans 11.
In all seriousness, while it appeared McCain was doing as much as he could to throw it (selecting Palin, employing some aides in tight with Wall Street and the Republic of Georgia, Joe the friggin' plumber ... SARAH PALIN), I just think it was a series of bumbles by an out-of-touch, desperate, pandering old man lulled into a sense of media compliance because of the free pass MSM gave Bush for seven of the past eight years.

I don't think he was as Nasty/dirty politics as he could of been. He had no Atwater or Rove on his campaign. He pulled back on the nasty Muslim/Arab stuff a few times I think for a few reasons:
1. He has one iota of decency/honor/conscious left in him unlike Bush/Cheney. 2. He knew he likely would loose and to save some face/grace is better than loosing the election and loosing your honor.
I think right now, Obama is considering whether or not to offer the secretary of defense position to McCain. It would be an incredibly bold/crazy/biparisan move. He looks up to Lincoln. He wants people with different points of view to help him with his administation. Lincoln pulled in everyone from both sides into his administration and asked them to help with solving problems. I think that is how Obama thinks, he will tell McCain, we need to end the war in Iraq responsibly and McCain needs to do it. I don't think McCain will accept the offer though.

6. I've been glad that the McCain who made the concession speech and the McCain that was on the Tonight |
|
show this week didn't show up until after the votes were counted. Bob Dole did the same thing - just a crabby SOB during the campaign and afterward he suddenly became likeable. (Or, as Letterman said in 1996, Bob Dole is the guy who yells at you when your ball falls on his lawn. Bill Clinton is your cool uncle who will buy you beer when you're underage.) I think they were victims of bad advice though McCain might enjoy repudiating the Bush administration now.
So, we have Emanuel as Chief of Staff, maybe Hilary Clinton for SOS and the idea of McCain as Secretary of Defense has been brought up. Do you suppose if all Clinton and McCain wind up in the cabinet Obama will finally throw the left a bone and appoint a liberal to something?
And, if McCain joins the cabinet, does that mean Bill Richardson gets to appoint someone to fill the his seat? I know different states fill Senate vacancies differently, but this could result in a pick up for the Democrats.
