Rep Mark Kennedy is asked to pull ad implying AARP support

A new TV ad for Rep. Mark Kennedy inappropriately implies that the Sixth District Republican has the support of the AARP, formerly the American Association of Retired Persons, the Minnesota AARP director said Saturday.

Michelle Kimball asked that the ad be pulled, but the campaign refused.

"We are a nonpartisan organization," Kimball said. The ad "implies that we endorsed the Kennedy campaign and authorized them to use our name. We didn't."

Kimball said that legal action is possible. "We will do our best to make sure our members know we did not authorize this and did not provide an endorsement to this particular candidate," she said.
