Another small comfort came out of this
One of my great frustrations is that I have never been able to get any of my nieces or nephews as interested in politics as I am.

Well, my 18 year old niece has been in hysterics since Tuesday and she's hot to get going on 2006. All she did was vote this year (no volunteer work) but she is now ready to single handedly get Dayton reelected and Pawlenty defeated.

Apparently, she really got into it with a fellow student (per her description, this student is "older" like around 30). This surprised me as my niece has always been a bit shy. Anyway, this person was gloating at class on Wednesday about Bush winning and my niece asked her how she was paying for school. As it turns out this woman, just like my niece, is at Normandale on a Pell Grant. When my niece heard that she said "How do you plan to pay your tuition next year?"

I'm so proud I could weep.

interested in politics over the past year. This election has very much opened their eyes to the sad state of politics that exists in our country today.

2. My 15 year old
gave out push-cards at the polls and wore her Kerry shirt to every Repuke household she visited. The funniest thing is that she now yells at the TV when she hears lies, after making fun of me for doing that for so many years. I'm so proud.

3. I'm in contact with some youth who voted Nader in 2000. They learned
this time and many are fervent now and won't stop talking to me about it. I was worried that the minorities and youth would be turned off. Some haven't quit.
