Minnesota named healthiest state again
http://www.forbes.com/lifestyle/health/feeds/hscout/2004/11/08/hscout522235.html

MONDAY, Nov. 8 (HealthDayNews) -- Americans living in Minnesota, New Hampshire and Vermont are more likely to live long, healthy lives than people residing anywhere else in the nation, according to an annual study ranking state-by-state health indicators.

On the down side, three southern states -- Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana -- ranked 48th, 49th and 50th, respectively, in terms of the health of their citizens, according to those announcing the rankings at a press conference Monday in Washington.

Interesting that the healthiest states are also BLUE states and the least healthy states are all RED.

So, is it too much of a stretch to say a liberal outlook is healthier?

1. I heard on the local news that this is somewhat misleading
Our obesity and infant mortality rates are not so good and we don't rank very well when it comes to the availablity of prenatal care. We can only wonder how much worse it must be in Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana. Though if Pawlenty and his ilk have their way, we'll be right down there with those three states before they're done. Better that than higher taxes. (sarcasm on)
