If so, what is it like?

Well-lit? Loud music?

1. Years ago. Can't really remember much about it,
but I seem to recall that at the time (at least 10 years ago) it was dark and smokey, typical bar.

2. Used to live across the street from it
It's a typical bar-- lots of smoke, pool tables, decent bar food. There's no live music, but there's a jukebox which can be a little loud, IIRC.

I used to live in the Belmont building on the corner of Franklin and Nicollet about nine years ago-- in the corner apartment that faces the intersection, on the first floor. It was a cool place, but it was very noisy, especially in the summer.

4. I lived across the street from Lyle's too
back in 89 and 90 - I was at 2024 Dupont, just down from the Scottish Rite Temple. Years before that, I worked at the Loring Park Office building ( 430 Oak Grove) and we ate lunch there quite often - I was lunching at Lyle's when the news broke about the Reagan assassination attempt.

3. Typical Uptown bar
Lots of smoke and Grain Belt beer. Good jukebox, pool tables. That's about all I really remember of it.

It's similar to other bars around there, particularly C.C. Club on Lyndale (used to live up the street from there), but with brighter lighting. Most of the clientele is younger, but I don't think anyone going there will feel out of place, unless you're a sharp-dressed clubbie looking to preen and pose. Liquor Lyle's is about as low-key as it gets, and it's a pretty fun bar.
