Wellstone Action Meeting was Today |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 08:42 PM by Eric J in MN
in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.
About 900 people attended.
We were all in a big room for the first half, and then went into three smaller rooms for the second part.
Thre first part included analysis of the 2004 election.
One interesting fact was that in 9 of the 14 districts where Democrats gained State House seats, Kerry lost.
Also, Kerry won overall in Minnesota among both men and women.
During the second part, activists who went canvassing talked about their experiences.
IF YOU WERE THERE, YOU'RE WELCOME TO ADD IN THIS THREAD.
If not, you're welcome to ask questions.

1. Thanks for sharing that |
|
I'm sitting here looking at my "What would Wellstone do?" button and wondering the same thing.
His death was a tragedy on many levels...

2. The election stats were presented by Grassroots Solutions |
|
and the presenter said they should be up on the website by this evening.
Some of the things I found interesting:
*The education gap had a greater impact on how people voted than the "moral values" factor.
*Votes for Kerry grew incrementally depending on the years of education attained. (I sense another meme in the air.)
*Minnesota led the nation in voter turnout
*Minnesota had the highest turnout of voting age population (VAP)
Lots of new data for people who like to break down the numbers.
