Dayton "strongly inclined" to vote against Gonzales |
|
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/politics/10583076.htm?1cSen. Mark Dayton said Thursday he will probably vote against the nomination of Alberto Gonzales for attorney general, while Sen. Norm Coleman said he will support the nomination.
Neither senator is on the Judiciary Committee, which held a confirmation hearing on Gonzales on Thursday. But both will vote on the nomination once it comes out of committee.
"I'm extremely troubled by his record based on what I've read so far," Dayton, D-Minn., told reporters on a conference call. "I'm strongly inclined to vote against his confirmation, but I'm not going to make a final determination until the record is complete."
Dayton said he was disturbed by Gonzales' conclusion, as White House counsel, that the Geneva Convention protections for prisoners of war did not apply to terror suspects.

but it won't make up for what he did to Barbara Boxer (and us) today. Dayton can kiss my heinie; he'd better not ask me for a damn nickel ever again.

5. Voting for Kennedy then? |
|
Abstaining or using a protest vote could easily put Kennedy in as the other senator pretty easily.
How would you look at yourself if we have Senators Coleman and Kennedy, meaning 99%+ of the votes from either of them would be rubber stamp votes for the Bush Admistration.

6. I will support a good Democrat who runs against Dayton |
|
in the '06 primary. If Dayton is still the candidate I will vote for him over Kennedy because Kennedy is horrible, but that doesn't mean I'll give Dayton any money. He really disgraced himself today by speaking out against Boxer. He could have just shut up and hung with the rest of the limp-d*ck Democrats, but he really went over the line by speaking against her. Sorry, but I can't support him any more, not after that.

7. Let me know who you have in mind for '06. |
|
Not because I'd be voting against Dayton, but because you keep throwing it around and I'd like to know who you have in mind.
