Could the DFL ask Mayor Randall Kelly not to run for re-election |
(since Mayor Kelly endorsed Bush) or do they have nothing to do with it?

3. They can endorse someone else at the convention |
though that wouldn't prevent Kelly from running in the primary. And, unless the Republicans also have a primary, our lack of party registration won't stop Repukes from voting for him in that election and making him the DFL candidate.

4. They'd all have to turn out and vote |
because they're not many Republicans over here.
They'd do best to endorse him outright as they did with Coleman after he changed parties. Kelly has said he still considers himself a DFLer. He could change his mind of course. He could also try running without party endorsement. That might be his best shot.
