On the Thursday before the King holiday, Battle gave a short speech in the state Capitol rotunda. The event, meant to honor King and Minnesota civil rights icons, was sponsored by conservative Sen. Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater. ...

Battle also says King's theology would have prevented him from endorsing gay marriage. He says King believed in a Bible that stated God's opposition to homosexuality, and that defined marriage as between one man and one woman. A recent Pew Research poll found that 67 percent of black Protestants oppose gay marriage on religious grounds. ...

Of course, no one knows for sure what King's position would be on same-sex marriage. But King's widow Coretta has said publicly that she believes her husband would have supported gay rights.

"Of course, who would know better? She was his wife and also a struggle-mate with Dr. King for many, many years," says Earl Ofari Hutchinson.

2. That Bachman is so low.
As I was reading the first two paragraphs I was thinking that only Coretta King has a right to say what MLK would or would not have thought about an issue. I'm glad to see someone else pointed that out.

3. Not the first time I have heard this tactic used
but this is REALLY low by Bachmann. She is beyond a zealot on this one.

This really may come back to bite her in the future.

This gay marriage ammendment is her sole vechile for higher office in her eyes. That is very low and disgusting.

4. Bachmann is a religious scumbag.
She is a religious zealot that's not only attacking gay rights, she sponsors anti-choice legislation, wants to blur the line between church and state, and supported cheryl Yucki or whatever her name was who said that Columbus didnt kill Indians with disease. Bachmann's a historical revisionist of the worst kind. She is definately a flag wavin patriot who would have made a great Nazi.
