THE DNC WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU!

In February the Democratic National Committee - the governing body that formulates the vision, determines the strategy for delivering our message, and sets the overall tone of the national Democratic Party - will be electing a new Chair to lead the Party. The Chair is responsible for communicating that vision and the collective values of the national Party. Many of us have ideas about how we would like to be represented, and here is our opportunity to be heard. In Minnesota we have six voting members of the DNC, and in true Minnesota fashion they want to hear from the grassroots! In an unprecedented event co-sponsored by the MN DFL and the DFL Progressive Caucus, our DNC representatives are going on a "Listening Tour" to meet with everyday DFLers to find out where we want our party leadership to take us as we move forward. Come share your thoughts!

3. Saturday in Anoka, right?

I'm really looking forward to the presentation of the Progressive Caucus petition to be officially recognized. I probably won't be able to vote, looks like both our Pine County voting delegates plan on being there, but I'll certainly be cheering you on!

I'm also planning to attend the 1/28 DNC Listening session in Cloquet, a week from this Saturday.

We had a smaller meeting with 2 of our MN DNC reps a couple weeks ago at the 8th CD executive committee meeting in Duluth. Rick Stafford and another guy whose name escapes me at the moment - Fox? Something like that... He's the head of the DNC Midwest region black caucus.

It was a small group, about 40 people. Lots of good points raised, but the essence of what just about EVERYBODY brought up was the desire for Dems to stand up and articulate Democratic principles and values. The main thing to report is that we held a vote and passed a resolution that the 8th CD endorses Dean for DNC chair.

I hope there's a big turnout for the January 28th meeting, I'm really looking forward to it.
