Minnesotans protest and party, too
Terry Collins, Star Tribune
January 21, 2005

Through protest or partying, many Minnesotans used the president's inauguration day to express frustration.

In downtown Minneapolis, more than 300 people demonstrated outside the Hennepin County Government Center in opposition to the war in Iraq.

Besides voicing her concerns, Mina Leierwood of Minneapolis held drawings of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney with the word "liar" under them.

"Both the soldiers and the Iraqis are putting their lives on the line for nothing more than protecting oil interests," Leierwood said. "It's no-win situation -- kill or be killed. There's too much blood being spilled for nothing."
