Please call your Representatives to restore the funds to KBEM
It has the best road report but MnDot is cutting its funding.

Please see the strib report http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/5197565.html

And how dumb can Dick Day be? According to the story he said he thought all traffic reports are basically useless. "If there's an accident ahead there's nothing I can do about it anyway."

Well, duh! If I am driving NW and I hear that the 100 had an accident on the 394, I will either not take it, or will leave it at, say, Excelsior. All of us who drive and who listen to traffic reports do this. Sure, sometimes we are stuck with no way to go, but for many others traffic report will suggest how to by-pass the site of an accident.

It is really heart breaking to listen to its regular programs and to hear the hosts saying that "this is my last hour with you" or something.

Of course, this being a public radio and a jazz station, chances are most of its listeners are Democrats.

If it helps the public, Republicans are screwing it.

Bastards.

5. CLEAR CHANNEL donates $25,000 to KBEM and urges more
http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/5200225.html

Financially ailing public radio station KBEM (88.5 FM) will get major support from one of the world's largest radio conglomerates, Clear Channel Communications.

Clear Channel, owner of Jazz 88's closest local competition, "Smooth Jazz" KJZI (100.3 FM), will deliver a $25,000 check to KBEM on Monday, executives at both stations told the Star Tribune on Saturday. ...

In addition to the cash infusion, Clear Channel will broadcast messages on several of its Twin Cities stations asking listeners to support KBEM. It also plans to help the station with its winter jazz festival and future pledge drives.

"We hope this turns into a long-term partnership," said Dan Seeman, Clear Channel's local vice president and general manager. "I'm hoping we can grow the jazz lifestyle in the market."
