DFL Women "Radical feminists spewing man hatred and victimization"
So said State Auditor Patricia Anderson at last weekend's State Republican convention when she described "most DFL women". (When did she drop the Awada?)

I guess this explains why I've never been married.

Anyway, in my effort to avoid the Reagan-thon I pretty much forgot the Repukes were even meeting last weekend. I found this gem in Lori Sturdevant's column in the Strib today about the GOP's Webvoter. The article is too long to give a good description here, it's worth the read.

http://www.startribune.com/stories/562/4828804.html
<snip>
...It probably wasn't, either, Gov. Tim Pawlenty's characterization of the DFL agenda as "raise taxes, allow gay marriage and promote welfare," even though he repeated the line so many times that even today, three days later, most delegates can probably recite it. (So much for any thought that the guv wants to make nice with the Senate DFL and pass a bonding bill.)

What I'm going to remember from the 2004 GOP assemblage at the Xcel is the WebVoter demonstration I got at the computer table in the lobby. That's where I saw the future of grass-roots politics.

Here's how WebVoter works: If you're part of the Republican Party's already identified 60,000 core households, you have received in the mail your very own WebVoter user name and password. Enter that information, and you are provided with a list of 25 names, some of whom you're likely to recognize, and their addresses, which you're sure to know. They are all in your neighborhood.

Those are names of voters not already known to the GOP to be either Republicans or Democrats. The public policy issue that gets them worked up is similarly not known. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to discover the party and issue preferences of your neighbors, and report them to the GOP brain in cyberspace.

Those whom you report to be open to Republican messages will suddenly be showered with invitations to events, pleas for donations, an array of literature and persistent phone calls. Those whom you report to be hopeless Democrats will be deemed unworthy of the expenditure of a 37-cent stamp, and dropped from the list (for now).
<end snip>

And to our male DUer's, I promise at the next gathering not to spew too much man-hatred or victimization.

1. I know exactly who they're talking about!
She and I, while defending a women's health clinic in the South some years ago, were referred to by one of the anti's as "baby-bloodsucking vampire lesbian whores". (even though I am male!)

She's been a fairly well-known activist up there for a while now (may actually be an out-and-out socialist rather than DFLer; imagine how much man hatred and victimization that entails! </sarcasm>). Good to know she can bring out the worst in repuke fascists at all latitudes!

3. One of the funniest off off Broadway plays I ever saw

was titled "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" (one of the twin cities,
don't ya know). It was hysterical. Bought the T-shirt too. Must
have been 14 years ago now. The title still brings a chuckle
whenever I am reminded.

2. Tim Pawlenty is an idiot.

Taxes = it's how one pays off the deficit.

Gay Marriage = Less Government intervention into our lives TIM!

Welfare = Roles INCREASE under Rethuglican mis-administration! Along with CORPORATE WELFARE!

Also, wtf is a 'radical feminist' is wanting equality radical?

I don't want a penis Ms. Anderson, just equal pay ok? This man hating radical feminist been in the same relationship with a man, for the past 15 years, married for 10, and a stay at home mom for the past 5. I support equality and choice for women, how very uhm 'radical' :eyes:

OY VEY!

6. I, too, forgot about the State Republican convention

7. It makes me sick

to hear Tim Pawlenty pushing every f#cking hot button word his tiny brain can come up with over and over again (this is hardly the first occasion). This is the dialogue we want in our state? Is this how we're going to go about the business of making our state a better place? Nice f#cking going Tim. I'm sorry. I'm just a little pissed off this afternoon.

8. The Republican definition of destructive partisanship is
when a DFLer doesn't instantly agree with every stupid thing that comes out of Timmy-boy's mouth.

9. She dropped the Awada because it sounds too Middle Eastern
She addeded the Anderson at the end last election apparently to get us used to it. Article at the time actually said whe wanted a name that was more Scandinavian and less Middle Eastern sounding.

10. raw meat for the faithful
But it sure lowers the level of discourse. If this keeps up there won't be a MN Republican worth voting for again in my lifetime.

And to our male DUer's, I promise at the next gathering not to spew too much man-hatred or victimization.

Yeah, I hate it when you do that. To quote Bob Newhart -- "STOP IT!"
