Okay, folks, a new consensus is growing. As staunch DFLers, we want to see this movie on opening night!

(Updates on showtimes will be forthcoming, but it would be good to get a headcount.)

Hope to see you all there. Perhaps we could meet at Zeno's or the Lotus after the late afternoon showing or before the sevenish showing. (Those are the two large venues that I can think of.)

"Moviefone" the service that's listed with the Lagoon, says it's "coming soon" and "not showing in your area" so there is no way to buy advance tickets.

Is this part of the kakistocracy's effort to keep us from seeing this film?

I will make 6/25 work, sans wife, due to HER work schedule, but there will be other times for you all to meet her. She's a true sweetheart...just not very political.

I'll keep an eye on "Moviephone," but if I don't see anything by this weekend, I may just take a trip to Uptown to see if I can get advanced tickets at the window.

Any thoughts/insight on this idea?

Let me know if you'd care to meet in Uptown this weekend sometime for the big "ticket acquisition." I don't think I'll have my DU shirt by then, but I'm hoping it will arrive before the opener.

I'm definitely on for 6/25. I've arranged for the evening off; I get about two Friday evenings off a year, and my boss was really cool about me wanting to see the opener of F 9/11.

I can't tell you guys how happy I am to have discovered this website; I'm kind of a reclusive homebody with a gajillion hobbies and personal interests, but I haven't met too many people I can connect with in recent years. Anyhow, cheers to all of you :toast: and I can't wait till we meet!!!!

The advance ticket purchase is apparently problematical right now, nor do we know the exact showtimes yet -- darn!

But I plan on being there, and either an afternoon or early evening showtime works for me. And if nothing else, I'll see if someone I know who lives in the Cities will make the trip to the Lagoon and pick up an advance ticket for me in person -- maybe the theater will have the showtimes set by then too!

Either Zeno's (which I don't know, but which I assume is in the area) or Lotus (which I DO know) is fine by me for meeting up. Making this work for a BEFORE show meeting probably depends on all of us having advance tickets in hand so we don't have to worry about standing in line.

I'm also thinking that we might be in the mood for a group debriefing AFTER the movie, so I'd like to keep that option open.

Okay folks, now we've gotta pick which showtime we can all meet for!

Some people may have to work past five. For that very reason, though, it will probably be easier to get tickets for the 5:00 showing.

I'm thinking that one of us (and I'll volunteer), could stand outside the door of the theatre (or in the lobby?) with a little sign that says "DU" -- maybe starting around 4 or 4:30? (I'll get there early enough to make sure I already have my ticket in hand while I watch for the rest of you.)

63. I was finally able to purchase a ticket, and ...

I hope you all appreciate my efforts! :-)

I'm a Mac user, and I first tried using my trusty old Safari browser. Oops, it wouldn't go through all the steps. I got a page telling me to upgrade. Nope, can't do that, because I don't have the latest version of the OS.

Next I tried Internet Explorer. Nope, that wouldn't accept my credit card information because of a "security failure."

After several attempts with each browser, I finally made the ultimate sacrifice and downloaded Netscape. Worked perfectly, and I am now the proud owner of a ticket for the 5PM showing of F911 on June 25.

It has been a looong time. :hi: How about we meet at the coffee shop called Zeno's prior to the show? Zeno's in on Lagoon and Hennepin. It is a block away from the Lagoon theater. We could get a cup of joe while we amass our group. Oh...there is a parking lot next to the Lagoon, which does validate for 1 hour (I think) with a ticket stub. I do not know that their hourly rates are, however. :shrug:

I like the idea, but I think it would depend on how early people can get there. If there's a line at the theater of ticket holders waiting to grab good seats, we may not want to be elsewhere.

In one of my other posts, I suggested meeting at the theater, and volunteered to hold a little "DU" sign, so we could all find each other.

My first transaction was kind of screwy too...got these dots. It said not to hit reload, but after 20 minutes, I said screwit and hit reload anyway. Then a confirmation page showed up, which I printed. I did not get a confirmation email. I emailed Moviefone asking if the transaction actually went through, but I haven't heard from them yet. Anyhow, to be safe, I ordered another one and it went through fine, email confirmation and all:wtf:

I checked my bank account and I saw two postings for nine bucks, so they'd better have two tickets for me.

My problem was that the first time I tried to sign up for that stupid AOL Wallet thing and I think their server got confused. AOL probably didn't like my open source web browser. :nuke:

The second time, I just used the yellow checkout button and it worked fine.
