Channel 17 in Raleigh is running a segment on BBV today after Meet the Press with myself, Joyce McCloy and a rep from the NC Board of Elections.
I think it went pretty well. The state is very cautious and has told the counties not to buy any machines in the absence of state or federal guidelines. Catawba county disobeyed this edict and has been told that if the machines don't meet the standards, they will have to pay the bill out of their own pocket.
They are open to a paper ballot and distrustful of Diebold and ES&S, the two principle BBV suppliers.

since I hadn't heard much about BBV here in NC specifically. There just hasn't been a rush to change voting technology. I'm glad the state is being cautious about it.
