Anyone see Bill Cobey's commercials (sorry to make you gag!)
Had to post this, sorry if I make anyone lose their breakfast/lunch. This particular challenger for Easley's seat is a Jesse Helms toady with less appeal than a snail.
And a particular brand of "compassionate conservatism."

"If Congress can’t get it done, we’ll start the process right here in North Carolina. When I am elected governor, there will be no gay marriages in North Carolina.”- Bill Cobey

2. At first I read "Bill Cosby"
and I thought, how in the hell can you have an issue with Bill Cosby? :WTF:

Then I caught the clue.

I haven't seen his ads yet, but it dosen't surprise me that we have a Jessie clone running. *grumble*

4. But Cobey does the laundry!
During his last run for Raleigh mayor, he tried to make it sound like he was a real, modern equality-driven man by showing he does the laundry at his house.

Eeek! I'm so glad I live in the People's Republic of Orange County.

5. I recall when Bill Cobey was Carolina's Athletics Director...
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 02:42 PM by GainesT1958
And the mens' basketball team was going to a Christmas Break tournament in the Netherlands. When the womens' team was also invited by the Dutch sponsors, Cobey originally tried to explain why they weren't being allowed to make the trip as well by stating: "We just don't have money for non-revenue sports". Well, the Chancellor at the time (Chris Fordham) counter-manded this stupidity by ordering the women sent over, too. As it turned out, the womens' team won their side of that tournament, while Dean Smith's men lost in the finals to a Dutch squad. That was my first real taste of what a fool--and right-wing stooge--Bill Cobey was, and still is! x(

B-)

8. The Conservative Radio Network
dum dum da dummm!!!

Isn't that an oxymoron? No, wait, an oxymoron is something like "jumbo shrimp". This is just redundant.

I know, I was actually thinking "OxyContin".:silly:

Later,

7. Wait a minute
There are currently no licensed gay marriages in NC anyway. What is it that Colbey is proposing to stop? Church weddings of same-sex couples?

9. Yes! They are disgusting. Making Helms look like a kindly old elf!
When I see them I want to leave NC. But, I know that other states have some of the same Repug toads. And the appeal to "Christians" is even more offensive...

Gack! :puke:

10. "Radical liberals calls this discrimination, that's hogwash"
what a bastard. Cobey means douchebag. That should be Easley's campaign slogan.
