1. I have a friend that lives in Columbus with her husband.
But they are strong Busy. Joe, her husband, says Bush has handled everything "perfect." Connie, my friend, states she votes conservative only because of abortion. She says someone has to try to save the babies. She said the moment the sperm goes into the egg, then it is a person . . . not a bunch of cells. She and I have went in circles about this and I told her she should be against in-vitro fertilization because they fertilize a lot of eggs in petri dishes and never use all of them. If the person gets pregnant, they just freeze the others OR just throw them away. God forbid they use them for stem cell research. They just don't see it that way OR she just won't see it that way.
I tried to convert her but her husband is so overpowering on everything it is sickening. I don't even email him anymore. Her emails have slowly faded off too. I guess she will not be allowed to talk to me now. I'm talking about people 40 years old, not some teenagers.
You could not have been more suprised than I was and I have lived here for over 25 years. UA for Kerry is becoming a very active grass roots group attracting a number of people who just can't stand Bush as well as a number who wholeheartedly support Kerry. One problem is that the yard signs keep disappearing, but the bumper stickers are doing fine. They look great on all the upscale cars as well as our 1985 Caprice. There are at least two groups who walk together in the evening wearing Kerry gear. My goal is to walk past Wally O'Dell's (of Diebold fame) place just up the street from us as often as possible and encourage many others to do the same. My fantasy is for O'Dell's precinct to go for Kerry on Nov. 2 and I believe it is possible.
