By Kathy Lynn Gray
The Columbus Dispatch
Sunday, January 1, 2006 10:01 AM
Former Ohio State football star Maurice Clarett is a wanted man today.

Columbus Police said Clarett, 22, and two other men attempted to rob two people very early this morning outside of a S. High Street bar, the Opium Lounge. Clarett approached two people and demanded property from them. Either Clarett or the other men with him had a handgun, police reported.

After the 1:46 a.m. incident, Clarett and the two men sped away in a white SUV.

Police are searching for Clarett and the two men and have charged Clarett with two counts of aggravated robbery.

Police said the two victims were not injured. It is unclear if the victims had anything taken.

Oh Hamlet, what a falling off was there.

4. Warrant issued
http://www.nbc4i.com/news/5773102/detail.html

"Police allege that Clarett, 22, demanded property from a 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman 'with a handgun in his presence then got into a white SUV with two other unknown suspects and sped away.'

Neither victim was hurt, police said.

Youngstown police confirmed to NBC 4 that there is a warrant out for Clarett's arrest.

Clarett was eligible for the National Football League's draft in 2004 and was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round. He did not play in the team's preseason games because of injuries and other reasons, and was cut before the regular season began."

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett remained at the center of a police hunt on Monday, a day after he was accused of holding up two people at gunpoint in the alley behind a bar.

Detectives "are getting some tips on possible locations, we're following up on those. But right now, none of those have proved of value," said Sgt. Michael Woods, a police spokesman.

Police hope Clarett will turn himself in, or that anyone with information on where he is will come forward, Woods said.

Clarett, 22, was wanted on two counts of aggravated robbery. He is accused of flashing a gun and demanding property from a man and a woman behind the Opium Lounge in downtown Columbus shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday...

8. Just Sad
Clarett's Mom was 14 when he he was born, he had lived in 20 different places by the time he was 18 and
started @ OSU, he was surrounded with bums and leaches that told him the wrong thing time after time, and
now this. I love OSU football and I hope it turns out OK for Maurice but I doubt it will.

10. A troubled kid.
I feel sorry for Clarrett. He's had a harder life than 90% of people, and he just succumbed to the circumstances. Like the poster said above, he was surrounded by leaches and he got some bad advice.

As much as I'm disapointed by his actions, I only hope for the best.
