Right now
Thor Jacobs and
Jim Parker are in for sure.
Dr. Victoria Wulsin, who had a strong showing against Paul Hackett in the special, is rumored to be considering running as well. I'm really looking forward to hearing what she has to say at the next
Warren County Democrats meeting. It will be interesting to see if
Emily's list gives her some real support this time around. Pro-choice/anti-war candidate
Jeff Sinnard is also hinting that he might run again.
More detail's on Thor over at
Clark St Blog. He recently sent out this email:
It has been three weeks since my initial missive so I wanted to give you guys an update as to the status of my candidacy for Congress in Ohio’s 2nd District.
I have made great progress over the last couple weeks most markedly as it relates to my web site and getting to know key individuals both in and outside the District.
Very important in this regard is having the support of Paul Hackett, who barely lost this race in the special election held in August. Paul is now running for Senate but faces a very tough primary. (As you are so inclined please support Paul.) Paul has made many friends in the District and I am gratified to have him on my side. So much so in fact that shortly after meetings that he had with the “powers-that-be” in Washington, I received a call from Rahm Emmanuel, the head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) to discuss my candidacy.
I have filed my paperwork with the Federal Elections Committee (FEC) and the Board of Elections. I am waiting to get their thumbs up to be totally official which should happen here in the next week or so. The filing deadline for all candidates is February 16th at which time I will know who I am running against in the Primary. Then it is ten weeks of fun!
My target date to launch the web site is January 11th. I did not want to compete with the Holidays or the football games and thought this was a good time frame. I will have some sort of gathering shortly thereafter as an official kickoff and make a press event of it. In addition, I hope to have a campaign manager hired in January and then it is off to the races.
I should also mention that the web site, being constructed by my friend and confidant Larry Morritt will be: www.jacobsforcongress.org and that Thor@jacobsforcongress.org will be my email address, which as you can see, is functioning now. As of now I have not heard back from the Hackett campaign if they are officially supporting his bid. I know that they have met with him and were very grateful that he decided not to run against Hackett in the special election.
