http://www.dispatch.com/news-story.php?story=dispatch/2006/01/06/20060106-F3-00.html"If elected governor this fall, Democrat Ted Strickland said yesterday that he would not rule out casinos in Ohio, but cautioned that gambling is not 'Ohio’s answer to economic development.' The congressman from Lisbon differed sharply on casino gambling with two Republican rivals at a Columbus political forum sponsored by the Associated Press.

'I am not one of those individuals who has some moral objection to gambling as an adult activity,' said Strickland, a former United Methodist minister. 'I believe adults have the right to spend their entertainment dollars as they choose to do.'
Strickland said he would base decisions on casinos, racetrack slot machines or other gambling proposals on their merits.

Strickland’s position was rejected by two Republican candidates for governor — Attorney General Jim Petro and state Auditor Betty D. Montgomery."
Where should the Democrats be on the 'gaming issue'? Obviously, all 3 Repub candidates will maintain their traditional opposition to Ohio casinos. It seems that Ted is trying to stay on the fence. Is "pro-gambling" a winner or a loser?
